After discussion with our team, treatments are personalized to suit your needs, often incorporating aspects of multiple therapies and other relaxation techniques.
Treatments can take place either in our lovely treatment rooms or in your in-patient bedroom.
Aromatherapy
This treatment works using essential oils extracted from plants, via inhalation, application or via massage to improve physical and emotional wellbeing.
Massage
These treatments range from shorter simple treatments which can be through clothing/without using oils through to a full body massage. Your treatment will be suitable and appropriate for you.
Aromaflexology
Reflex points on the feet are stimulated by applying specific massage and pressure techniques incorporating essential oils to bring about relaxation in corresponding areas of the body.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese method of treating illness. According to the Chinese philosophy we all have energy or Qi (chi) moving in channels around the body. These should be free flowing and equally balanced. If the channels become blocked then pain or illness develops.
Acupuncture needles are very fine needles which are inserted into points on the skin which encourage the Qi to flow freely again. Modern medical views are that acupuncture works by altering the pain relieving chemicals in the body.
Cognitive Relaxation
Anxiety is the body’s normal reaction to a stressful event, triggering the ‘flight or fight’ response as muscles tense, the heart beats faster and breathing quickens. Relaxation techniques teach patients to gain a greater sense of control over the feelings associated with anxiety.
Reiki
This is a method of natural healing simply involving hands being placed in sequence either on or just above your fully clothed body.
Treatments are available for in-patients, out-patients and day unit service users. You can be referred to this service either by one of our staff or another medical professional involved in your care.
